The caption says it all

I have no idea how we did it, dear Reader, but somehow we have managed to pull off the coup of the century.

After a month and a half of unemployment freefall, yours truly has landed a new job. That would be cause for celebration in and of itself, but said job also happens to be at a large multinational, making — for what is an average Joe like myself — a somewhat ridiculous amount of money, with the option for more ridiculousness if I manage to prove myself further down the line.

Happy times, folks. Thanks for everyone who’s written in expressing their support. Right now, it’s time for a chuhai and a long walk.

  1. Rock on man. Well done. I can understand celebrating with a Chuhai …. but not sure why the long walk, still celebrate however you see fit.

No kicking trees and shit though.

  2. Congrats man! Hopefully the long walk is to get to the pub for a beer!

  3. Love the long walks, gents. They help clear my head. Today’s long walk clocked in at just under two hours; walked the neighborhood, drank a couple chuhai and listened to Ani DiFranco on the iPod the whole time. Bliss.

  4. Yes! That means a new set of co-workers for you to character-assassinate online, which is basically what I look for in a blog.

  5. Hells yes! Congrats, brotha!
I’m drinking with you and Neil Tomorrow night, whether you bastards like it or not.

Yeah, no kicking shit in public places.

  6. You are a very, very fortunate man during this ugly economic time. Congrats.

  7. No kidding. Big company, big money–and in less than 2 months (…so have fast!), despite this being the worst economic time in decades. It’s like some kind of employment hat trick you’ve performed. Nice job.

  8. Congrats!!
    Your on my blogroll.

The congrats is on the job of course 😉

  9. Congrats, that’s awesome!!!!

  10. Congratulations!

…but then considering that you actually have to work and get back into the corporate insanity, my condolences.

Take it for all it’s worth!

  11. Congrats…. hope it come with all the trimmings… well done JT!

  12. John, congrats! Was in tokyo last weekend, had a ball!!!

  13. Congratulations. Looking forward to reading more vitriolic posts about the co-workers 🙂

  14. Congratulations! and a big thanks for the resume template/explanation, was very useful 🙂

  15. Congrats on landing the job, dude.
Yep, also thanks for the resume info.
    Very useful.

  16. Thanks for the congratulations, all. I’m pretty stoked, and already second-guessing myself…

And I *really* need to update that rirekisho entry. Maybe that’s what I’ll do over the next couple days of unemployment.
